Centre 404 is a well established charity in Islington set up to support people with learning difficulties and their families.
We provide a range of services including advice services to families/carers, leisure and learning opportunities for children and adults, and housing support services.
We currently have vacancies in our Central department and our Housing Service:
2 x Female Live in Support Workers (Ref: LISW)
22 hours per week, £5.52 per hour
These posts require you to live in a shared house with people, with and without a learning disability. It is a unique opportunity to gain experience and develop a career in community support. Your role will be to support people with learning difficulties to make informed choices, develop existing skills and learn new ones, join in with their local community and gain the respect of others. For this role transferable skills and a positive attitude is necessary rather than experience.

Parent Participation Worker (Ref: FPPP08)
25 Hours a week salary scale:£22,077.46 - £23,362.50 pro rata
We currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated person to take over our successful parent participation project. Working as part of a strong team with links to national organisations this is a fantastic opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and knowledge including group facilitation, SEN and disability policy and legislation and even management. You will be offered regular support and training and encouraged to develop you own personal skills and strengths.
Due to project responsibilities this post is not available as term time working only.
You will have:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to work in a variety of settings from informal gatherings to borough strategy groups.
- A commitment to, and understanding of, meaningful participation and developing local services for the benefit of local families.
- An excellent working knowledge of the national and local policy relating to children and families and disability and be able to apply and explain this at a grass root level.
- Excellent IT skills and be able to present complex information in a variety of accessible formats.
- Good organisational and time management and the ability prioritise completing demands on your time.
- A high level of understanding of the needs and issues facing families with disabled children.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including some early starts and late nights.
