NOW I KNOW WHERE TO GO FOR HELP IN THE FUTURE: KELLY
“Before contacting Centre 404, I was very naive about my rights as a parent of an Special Education Needs child. Centre 404 supported me throughout the Statement process and also enabled me to gain confidence in my abilities and to have a positive outlook on things. I managed to finish my studies and after volunteering at Centre 404, found a new direction in my life and will be continuing my studies to become a teacher. Now I feel strong enough to tackle any challenges and know where I can go to get support with my child’s needs in the future.”
Kelly’s son, Jayden, 7, recently received an Autism diagnosis. Kelly was studying and living off her student loan. She was worried that due to her son’s needs she was going to have to give up her studies. Centre 404 helped Kelly find a school for Jayden and he transferred to St Andrews and settled in well. Kelly started volunteering at Centre 404, helping out at the Aiming High Club and the Family team office.
