HOW VOLUNTEERING HELPED ME MOVE INTO A NEW CAREER: WILL

“Volunteering taught me valuable skills which I now use in my paid work such as being patient, being more understanding around challenging behaviour and the importance of providing stimulating activities for the members.  Volunteering was a great way to find out about the care sector and see if it was right for me. I now plan to study social work at university. The experience of volunteering and working at Centre 404 definitely helped my application for university. Centre 404 has always been keen to help me develop and gain experience. I’m really glad that I decided to change careers. Volunteering and now working for Centre 404 has played a very important role in this process.’ Will
