May 10 - Aiming High at Centre 404
In May 2010, Centre 404 will launch two new exciting clubs for children and young people with a learning disability. Following a comprehensive tender process Centre 404 has been successful in winning the contracts to run these groups, after being up against interest from fifty different organisations.
Aimed at people with higher needs, these innovative groups will give children and young people aged 11-18 the chance to experience fun activities in a safe, supportive environment. The groups will be based on the need identified by a consultation we held with families of children with higher needs.
A new Wednesday group will offer a broad range of activities chosen by the members and utilising all that Islington has to offer. An additional group on Saturday mornings will be focussed on performing arts and physical activities.
Dec 09 - Housing Service Receives ‘Excellent’ Star Rating for Quality
The housing service at Centre 404 is committed to providing a high quality of service delivery year after year, and 2009 has been no exception.
We have had our challenges along with everyone during the economic downturn, but our committed team of managers and staff maintained their motivation and focus to continue supporting the service users.
Centre 404 works using a person centred approach, and acknowledgement that we are doing this well came in the form of our Care Quality Commission inspection for our domiciliary care service. For the second time we received an excellent star rating for this service with no further requirements. This was a well deserved reward for the house teams that consistently work hard and maintain a responsive and inclusive service for the people they support.
The housing service has also been working hard this year behind the scenes to deliver support to those in receipt of an Individual Budget. We have developed leaflets to advertise this service and have trained staff ready to deliver support in this way.
Our tenants association has also been going strong throughout 2009 and we have been helping our current tenants to understand the concept of Individual Budgets and being in control of their support and lives. This has been helped by Centre 404 being a provider member of the ‘In-Control’ network.
Claire Curtis - Housing Manager
The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of Health and Social Care in England. Their aim is to make sure better care is provided for everyone.
Being a member of In Control means that Centre 404 can join the personalisation knowledge network and find the best way to make changes and support the development of individual budgets and self-directed support.
