Tenants Have Their Say

friendly association

Tenant involvement is a major focus. We have developed a Centre 404 Friendly Association and all interviews for new staff in the Supported Housing team have had a tenant on the panel either at the first or second stage.

Tracey, a tenant at one of Centre 404’s supported living projects has received training and support to enable her to participate in an interview panel and make a valuable contribution to Centre 404’s staff recruitment.

“I like being on the interview panel. I like it because it helps us to get staff. It helps me be confident and I don’t get nervous when I interview. I learn the questions to ask the candidates for the interview and I tell the panel what I think of them. I work very hard on the day but it’s worth it and I like doing it.”

The Friendly Association

Recently members of the Centre 404 Tenants’ Association chose to change the name of the group to The Centre 404 Friendly Association.
The Centre 404 Friendly Association now welcomes all people with a Centre 404 membership. This includes service users who use the Finding and Matching service and the Outreach service as well as our tenants.

The group meets about once a month to discuss a range of topics.  Popular topics so far have been; Moving on and Moving out, Prejudice and Discrimination, Fire Safety and Healthy Eating.  The group is facilitated by two volunteers but it is the members of the group who decide the agenda topics at the beginning of the year.

“The Friendly Association helps me to express how things are going.  It’s a very good meeting at Centre 404. I enjoy it and I help with washing the cups afterwards.” – Ruth, Friendly Association Member

The Friendly Association also sends a representative to the Centre 404 Housing Committee who reports to them about the latest Friendly Association meeting.  This helps to create a strong link between The Centre 404 Housing department and those who use its services.  The presence of a service user on the Housing Committee also ensures that a service user’s perspective is always represented at these meetings.

The meetings are held once a month at Centre 404. They tend to begin at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon.
